The incumbent functions as a Career Counselor in the Career Services unit. This position provides counseling services to current students, alumni, and prospective students on a variety of career development topics. This position is responsible for executing the full cycle of evidence-based career development activities such as self-assessment, career exploration, and career management and implementation activities. The goal and objective of WDLL career counselors is to empower students’ short- and long-term career preparation and management activities so they can meet their career and educational goals. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Counsel students individually and in groups on a variety of career development topics. Administer evidence-based career assessment and interpretations to students. Develop and conduct career workshops and presentations for students on topics such as career exploration, job readiness, resumes, cover letters, mock interviews, and professional development opportunities. Coordinate and collaborate with staff members to communicate and recommend job, internship, and other positions to students. Outreach to faculty and staff to promote and develop strong relationships for WDLL students. Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating career events and programs. Collect and enter specific data related to career development activities. Represent the division at various events which may require travel. Prepare and submit reports for career counseling outcomes. Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in counseling, human services, psychology, social work, or behavioral health, with a preference for specific education in career counseling methodologies. At least three (3) years of related work experience in counseling, human services, or career services. Knowledge and proficiency in career exploration and readiness assessments. Proficiency in utilizing online software/platforms for managing student career-specific information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other office technology. Able to travel between multiple campuses and off-site locations. Information to Applicant Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is represented by AFSCME local 2087.
