We are seeking a hands-on Fleet Maintenance Manager with strong mechanical experience to lead our maintenance team and elevate the department to new levels of operational excellence.

This position is on-site and is not remote.
Role Overview:
As the Fleet Manager, you will play a critical role in restructuring and leading the fleet maintenance department. We are looking for someone with actual mechanical experience who can not only manage the maintenance and repair of our fleet but also inspire and lead a team of mechanics. Your leadership will be instrumental in stabilizing the department and driving continuous improvement in efficiency, organization, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Coordination:
Restructure and elevate the fleet maintenance department to operate at a high level of performance.
Provide hands-on leadership, developing and leading mechanics by fostering growth and skill development.
Implement and enforce policies and procedures to ensure operational consistency and efficiency.
Motivate and inspire the team, building morale while maintaining high performance standards.
Lead by example, being a direct, organized, and hands-on leader who can drive results and accountability.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee and maintain a computerized maintenance program to track vehicle performance and maintenance.
Ensure that the shop is organized, clean, and adheres to all safety and quality standards.
Take ownership of vehicle acquisition, repair, preventative maintenance, and replacement to ensure operational reliability.
Focus on developing systems and processes that improve the efficiency of the department.
Financial & Administrative:
Oversee the fleet maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Prepare and present reports related to fleet performance, including vehicle maintenance, repairs, and personnel management.
Collaborate with GM and executive staff to align maintenance operations with company goals.
Emergency Response:
Coordinate response for emergency needs and ensure timely road calls and on-the-road repairs.
Be available and flexible to support a 24/7 operation, with shifts starting between 2 am and 4 pm.
Experience & Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a fleet maintenance or similar environment.
Strong mechanical experience with the ability to understand and guide complex repairs and maintenance.
Proven leadership abilities to motivate and manage a team of mechanics.
Highly organized, hands-on approach with a focus on implementing policies and procedures that enhance efficiency.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.
Preferred:
Minimum of five years of recent experience managing a fleet of 70 buses or more.
Experience in developing and maintaining a qualified maintenance program.
Completion of Automotive Service Excellence certifications (A1-A9, H8) or equivalent manufacturer training.
Education:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
