Job Description

Garden Center Store Manager Dennis' 7 Dees Garden Center Store Manager As a Store Manager at our Portland, OR retail garden center, you will be responsible for the overall store performance, including achieving budgeted financial results, executing all operational functions, maintaining merchandising standards, maximizing inventory management, and optimizing the customer experience, while maintaining and developing staff. To thrive in this position, youll need 3-5 years of retail management experience, strong knowledge of plants and horticultural care, a passion for learning and customer service, and a High School diploma or equivalent.

Youll spend your time focusing on these priorities:

* **Customer Experience** focuses on the appearance of the store, from maintaining a clean and safe facility to merchandising to ensuring customer service standards are met. Youll need to be able to step into any role for training and to assist during peak times.

* **Inventory Management** is overseeing the receiving, selection, quality, and care of merchandise.

* **Develop Staff** by performing human resource management functions, including hiring, discipline, promotions, terminations, career development, and compensation. Ensure training, task management, and provide a safe and positive working environment.

* **Financial Performance** of the store is monitored through knowing numbers for budget, revenue, margins, expenses and net profit, and are able to explain variances in the numbers.

* **Strategic Planning** with the Division Manager by being engaged and involved - bringing your ideas and thoughts for change. Research, plan and execute on approved plans.

**Physical Demands**

* Work outside in all weather conditions

* Able to carry and lift 50 pounds

* Able to push and pull up to 200 pounds, with castors

* Walking, talking, grasping, hearing, handling and feeling are done continuously.

* Standing, sitting, stooping, reaching and bending are done frequently.

* Crawling, climbing, and kneeling are done rarely.
