Equal Opportunity Employer & Affirmative Action Employer of Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities General Summary: Under general supervision of maintenance supervisor, performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work. Performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Will have skills in many different crafts.
- Repair and maintain machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings and work on plumbing, electrical, and air-conditioning and heating systems.
- Build partitions, make plaster or drywall repairs, and fix or paint roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, and other parts of building structures.
- Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery found in cafeterias, laundries, hospitals, stores, offices, and factories.
- Typical duties include troubleshooting and fixing faulty electrical switches, repairing air-conditioning motors, and unclogging drains.
- New buildings sometimes have computer-controlled systems that allow maintenance workers to make adjustments in building settings and monitor for problems from a central location.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices
- Replace or fix worn or broken parts, where necessary, or make adjustments to correct malfunctioning equipment and machines.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Following a checklist, they may inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions.
- Must keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work conducted.
- Create and maintain Activity Hazard Analysis.
- Assists other trades in basic carpentry and other basic construction/maintenance tasks.
- May be required to do grounds maintenance
- Assist others as part of the maintenance team as required
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements: - High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment
- Be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Valid Driver License required with a good driving record
Working Conditions: Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions. Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.
