Job Description

We are seeking a Quality & Safety Manager to manage and improve both quality control processes and safety protocols within the organization. The Quality and Safety Manager will lead the efforts to ensure the highest standards of product quality and workplace safety at our grain and fiber manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance, food safety programs and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of safety regulations, and certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) to manage and improve both quality control processes and safety protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the facility’s quality assurance and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and manufacturing regulations, including FDA, OSHA and other industry-specific standards.
  • Act as the facility’s PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) and ensure all food safety plans and preventive controls are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance at every stage of production.
  • Perform regular inspections of raw and in-process material, as well as finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Perform regular audits and inspections to assess the facility’s adherence to quality standards and safety regulations, identifying and addressing any areas of concern.
  • Manage the process for handling and resolving non-conformities, product defects, and safety incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain detailed records related to product quality, safety inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure the facility remains compliant with all required certifications and prepares for any third-party inspections or audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance and operations to drive improvements in both quality and safety.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external training programs for staff on food safety, quality assurance, and safety procedures.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and trends, recommending changes or upgrades to quality and safety programs as needed.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring both quality and safety goals are consistently met or exceeded.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Safety Management, or related field is preferred.
  • PCQI Certification (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or safety management role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (FSMA, HACCP, GMP, etc) and OSHA safety standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain quality and safety management systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and engage with senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk and occasionally lift or move items in a production environment.
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing environments includes noise, temperature variations and heavy equipment

COMPENSATION

Job Type: Full-time Salaried Position

Annual Salary Range: $80,000-$95,000

Work Location: In person (Kimball, MN near St Cloud, MN)
