Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30 am- 4:30pm

GZO Sheet Metal & Roofing is seeking a skilled and dynamic Roofing Estimator to join our team in the Basalt/Aspen, CO office. If you have a background in construction or roofing, thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and are a detail-oriented self-starter, we want to hear from you!

As a Roofing Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our operations by conducting thorough project assessments, providing precise cost estimates, and interpreting architectural drawings and blueprints for both residential and commercial roofing projects. Your expertise in roofing systems, keen eye for detail, and excellent customer service skills will be essential in delivering high-quality service to our clients.

What you will do:

• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
• Create comprehensive bid proposals that outline the scope of work, pricing breakdowns, and any special considerations
• Review project budgets and make adjustments as necessary throughout the estimating process
• Estimation and Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough site assessments to understand project requirements. Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and multi-faceted roofing systems including pitched roofing, flat roofing and waterproofing projects, considering materials, labor, and other factors.
• Plan Set and Architectural Drawing Analysis: Read and interpret architectural drawings and plan sets to accurately assess project scopes and requirements.
• Client Engagement: Work closely with potential clients to understand their needs and provide them with accurate and reliable estimates. Answer client queries and provide them with the necessary information to make informed decisions.
• Collaboration with Sales and Project Teams: Coordinate with sales and project management teams to ensure estimates align with project goals and client expectations. Assist in proposal development and contract negotiations as needed.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure estimates comply with industry standards and company quality benchmarks. Continuously update knowledge of roofing materials and techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of estimates, client interactions, and relevant project data. Provide reports and insights to management to aid in strategic decision-making.

What you will need:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of experience reading blueprints and take-offs.
• Previous experience in construction estimating required.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Strong knowledge of roofing systems, materials and cost factors
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and supplier
• In-depth knowledge of construction estimating principles, practices, and techniques
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans, architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents
• Proven experience in roofing estimation, preferably in both residential and commercial sectors
• Strong mathematical skills for accurate quantity takeoffs and cost calculations
• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimates
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers
• Excellent analytical, communication and customer service skills
• Proficiency in estimation software and tools, along with Microsoft Office suite
• Experience in customer sales
• Proficient in Onscreen Take off, Excel and Word
